With the election just two days away, a group from the National Convention – the senior team of the voluntary Conservative Party – descended on Wyre Forest to help get out those last messages to local voters.

With the general election just a few days away, Mark and his Conservative team were out and about in both Stourport and Bewdley, meeting with local shoppers and talking about the issues facing us all.

Andrew Mitchell, the Conservative International Development shadow, visited Kidderminster to support Mark's local campaign. Congratulating the local team on an impressive campaign, Andrew later met with a group of local residents to discuss Conservative proposals on support for developing nation.

BBC Hereford and Worcester held a live candidates' debate today at the Glades Leisure Centre in Kidderminster. Hosted by Nathan Turvey, candidates from the Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat and Health Concern parties debated issues raised by local residents in Wyre Forest.

The team were out today in Kidderminster, meeting shoppers on a rainy morning in the street market. Despite the weather, the mood was good for the Conservatives, with many people stopping to pass on their best wishes. Importantly, many people are coming up to Mark and the team to pledging their support having switched from voting for Labour or Independent last time. There are even many people who will be voting for the first time pledging their support to Conservatives.

Shadow Transport Secretary Theresa Villiers today visited Wyre Forest on the invitation of Mark Garnier. She was here to see the important proposals for the Stourport Relief Road and to meet with local press to discuss more, but she took time out to meet with the campaign team and hear how things are moving along.

After canvassing a big section of Stourport on Thursday, Mark held a public meeting at the Lickhill Community centre on Friday night. A number of residents turned up to listen to the Conservative massage, and questions ranged from issues surrounding the economy, immigration and how desperately Stourport needs help.

With two weeks left of the campaign, Mark and his team have been canvassing in Mitton in Stourport. Yet again, the Conservative message is well received on the doorstep with local residents accepting the need for us to focus on the issues that face Wyre Forest in the future, not in the past.

With all the activity going on in the campaign, it is sometimes fun to step back a little and take a different angle on the local action. The Conservative campaign in Wyre Forest featured on the letters pages of the Daily Telegraph on Thursday. A resident in Kidderminster's Greenhill had clearly taken the trouble to read our local election literature and felt motivated to share it with Telegraph readers.

22nd April 2010

Peter Luff, Mid Worcestershire's MP, has visited Wyre Forest to help canvas local residents. Mark and his team canvassed parts of Kidderminster and Stourport and found that there mood for change is definitely intact. Indeed, local residents recognise that change won't happen without change in Wyre Forest, and that it is time to start focusing on the issues that are affecting Wyre Forest right now.
