Cllr Marcus Hart, together with his Mayoress and fiancé Abby, celebrated the end of his year as Kidderminster’s youngest Mayor with an excellent evening at the Gainsborough hotel. Mark Garnier and Kidderminster Mayor Marcus Hart were amongst a group jailed by Kemp Hospice. The only way to be released was to raise bail. Mark and Marcus between them raised over £1,000 and the whole event raised over £5,000 for Kemp Hospice. The bail money was delivered by Conservative Shadow Secretary of State for International Development Andrew Mitchell MP, who was visiting the town at the invitation of Mark to meet with local Fairtrade representatives.

Mark spent a day with MEP Malcolm Harbour touring Worcestershire. The morning started with a visit to one of Worcestershire’s greatest success stories – Morgan Motors. As part of the ongoing campaign to save Kidderminster Test Centre, Rosemary Thew, managing director of the driving standards agency, came to a packed public meeting at Kidderminster’s Corn Exchange to address angry local residents, driving instructors and learner drivers. Every year, Wyre Forest recognises its finest sportsmen and women with an award ceremony. This year, there was the added advantage of having some Wyre Forest Olympic athletes in attendance, talking about their achievements and experiences at the games in Beijing. Mark said after: “I hugely enjoyed the evening and it is a tribute to the youth of our district that we have so many excellent sportsmen and women. They are an example to us all.”

24th June 2006

Wyre Forest Citizens’ Advice Bureau held its AGM at the Greatfield Road Evangelical Church in Kidderminster. The CAB is the first line of advice for people who need help with a wide range of issues and problems. Not surprisingly, with the current state of the economy, financial problems are at the fore.
