Mark welcomes the news that Bewdley has been recognised by Google as being one of the fastest growing online rural business centres in Britain.
It has been ranked 10th out of 20 rural areas where businesses have grown significantly due to Internet use.
Bewdley's Internet commercial activity grew by 28 per cent in the number of businesses advertising online, making it one of the fastest growing 'e-Villages' in the UK.
Mark said:
"I am delighted that Bewdley has been recognised as one of the fastest growing online rural business centres in Britain; this is a terrific accolade and one that has been achieved under the radar.
I am very proud indeed to represent an area with such an entrepreneurial spirit eager to embrace new technologies. The Internet is helping play a leading role in Bewdley's economic growth and helping to boost local businesses, while also contributing to the wider Wyre Forest economy.
I know there are many internet based and internet supported businesses across Wyre Forest and I know this will encourage other local businesses to make the most of the limitless opportunities the internet provides."
Bewdley Brewery was also chosen by the search engine as an "excellent example" of a local web-savvy enterprise that has used the Internet to grow its business.
Christine Carr, who runs the brewery, said they had set up a website to reach a wider audience in a cost-effective and efficient way.
She added: "Combined with the fact that we are on Bewdley's tourist trail, our online presence definitely had a positive impact, it helped our business in a practical way by bringing in new visitors. I would recommend all businesses of any shape and size to have a website."
Google assessed the strength of online commercial activity in rural areas with populations of 13,000 and less in the UK.
It shortlisted the rural villages with the highest online economic activity and ranked them in terms of the percentage increase in local enterprises using AdWords - Google's main advertising product - over the last year.
