Big Lottery Fund gives veterans a chance to make commemorative visits to the places that they served
Mark Garnier MP has welcomed an announcement from the Big Lottery Fund that they are giving grants to WW2 veterans to visit the places that they served during the war. These grants mark the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings.
“Heroes Return 2” offers veterans from the UK, Chanel Islands and Ireland grants of up to £8,140 towards travel and accommodation. They can use the money to enable themselves, their spouse and carers to take trips across the world to the places where they served.
Big Lottery Fund have awarded over £28 million to date to more than 57,000 veterans. They are eager to offer this opportunity to as many veterans as possible. Details on how to apply can be found at www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/heroesreturn or by calling our Heroes Return helpline 0845 0000 121
Mark Garnier said “It is fantastic that so many veterans and their spouses have already been able to take advantage of this funding. It is hugely important to honour our veterans and these grants provide a great opportunity to commemorate those who served in WW2 and mark the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings. I would encourage any veterans in Wyre Forest to apply for a grant so that they can visit the places where they served 70 years ago. ”
