Mark Garnier, Wyre Forest’s Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, has backed the decision of the Parliamentary Select Committee for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform to conduct an inquiry into the future of the Post Office.
The Committee wants to identify those services which Post Office customers value most, and look at services which are not currently provided but could be in future. The Committee will look at the future of the Post Office network as a whole, not at the locations of individual offices.
An online web forum has been set up to listen to the views of individuals and businesses which use Post Offices. The Committee is keen to hear from as wide a range of people as possible. The web forum can be found here.
Mark Garnier said: “This is a welcome effort to look at how to secure the Post Office’s future. I would like to encourage local people to make their voice heard in the web forum.
“Post Offices provide vital services to people here in Wyre Forest, and too many have closed in recent years. I hope that the Committee’s work will lead to concrete actions which will help to secure the future of the Post Office.’
