Mark Garnier MP is delighted to see that fuel prices in Wyre Forest have decreased by up to 6p per litre.
This is extremely encouraging news for local motorists and businesses across Wyre Forest. The drop brings prices into line with other areas in the West Midlands and follows quickly after Mark's recent round of letters to fuel retailers calling for equality in Wyre Forest fuel prices.
Tesco, Sainsbury's and Esso have all decreased their price by up to 6p per litre. When checked in September the price of unleaded petrol at Tesco in Kidderminster stood at 135.9p and this has now dropped significantly to 129.9p. The price for fuel in Wyre Forest is now on par with surrounding areas in the West Midlands which is also 129.9p.
Mark Garnier said: "It is fantastic news that retailers have cut their prices so dramatically. I wrote to local retailers at the end of August to highlight my concerns that the disparity in fuel prices in Wyre Forest had reoccurred and to express my disappointment that they had failed to maintain a lower premium.
This recent drop will have a huge benefit for motorists in Wyre Forest who may be struggling with high fuel prices. This proves that it is possible to lower the premium price that Wyre Forest residents pay for petrol. I hope that this time Tesco, Sainsbury's and Esso will maintain this lower price which has bought Wyre Forest into line with surrounding areas and continue to provide the best possible price for consumers. I am grateful to the retailers that they have responded to my request but we will keep the pressure on them for Wyre Forest fuel price equality."
