Wyre Forest MP has welcomed figures released today showing that the economy has grown by 0.8%
The UK economy has grown 0.8% over the last quarter and 3.1% over the past year. For the first time in a decade manufacturing, services and construction have all grown by at least 3% in the last year. This broad based growth is the longest positive run since the financial crisis.
Mark Garnier said “This broad based growth is extremely encouraging and highlights that our economy is becoming stronger and more stable.
“Locally we are seeing signs of recovery with unemployment a record low and large amounts of investment in Wyre Forest. We have investment in infrastructure with funding for the 3rd phase of the Hoobrook Link Road being confirmed, more jobs coming to the area with investment from Morgan Ceramics and investment in the Town Centre with plans to revitalise the Bullring.
“The impact of recession is still being felt and it is important not to be complacent. However these figures show that the long term economic plan is working and the economy is improving and stabilising."
