Mark Garnier MP is delighted at the announcement today that two major local infrastructure projects will be funded under the Local Growth Fund scheme. The Hoobrook Link Road will open up the old sugar beet site in the south of Kidderminster, whilst the Kidderminster station interchange will create a purpose built transport hub for the town and district.
This comes as part of the first £6 billion wave announcement, of at least a £12billion country wide package for infrastructure spending across the country. Mark Garnier has been lobbying hard for Wyre Forest’s inclusion in the package, including meeting with the Chancellor of the Exchequer to secure Wyre Forest’s place in the list of successful applications.
“Today’s announcement is incredibly important for Wyre Forest. Opening up the Sugar Beet site as part of the South Kidderminster business park is vital to bring jobs and prosperity to our district.
“The station interchange is also very important. Kidderminster Station has been a fast growing station and having a purpose built transport hub will make Kidderminster a far better place to live and work. I am pleased to have been able to play a part in securing this funding.”
