Stourport wins competition to host FTSE 250 company’s global centre of excellence
Mark Garnier MP has welcomed the announcement this morning from Morgan Advanced Materials. The company, who maintains a Technical Ceramics plant in Wyre Forest’s Stourport, has today announced that the group’s global centre of excellence will be located in Stourport. This will bring potentially 40 extra jobs to the town.
Stourport was in competition with alternative locations, both in the west coast of America and Shanghai.
Mark Garnier said: “This is very good news indeed for Stourport, Wyre Forest and for the country. It is exactly this type of high value advanced manufacturing that we need to develop in Wyre Forest. The commitment from Morgan Advanced Materials to Stourport is significant and valuable and will bring not just jobs and investment, but training as well. The fact that Stourport has won over hi tech centres such as California and Shanghai is very significant indeed and comes as a result of a number of factors, including business friendly taxation and a political commitment to support this type of advanced manufacturing. This is very good news indeed for Wyre Forest.”
