The outcome of the recent Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) indicates that Bewdley, Broadway, Kingsland and Whitchurch fire stations will remain open.
On the 19th February Hereford & Worcestershire Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) will meet to discuss the outcome on the recent CRMP consultation process and proposed recommendations within the report.
There are no proposed recommendations in the report which suggest closing any of the four stations, including Bewdley, that were previously highlighted in the draft CRMP.
Worcestershire MPs have been campaigning hard on this issue for several months and have urged HWFA to reconsider the proposed CRMP. MPs have also had meetings with Brandon Lewis MP who is the Minister with responsibility for fire and resilience to push the Government to increase the funding per capita that Hereford and Worcestershire residents receive.
Mark Garnier said "The news that there have been no recommendations to bring forward proposals to close Bewdley Fire Station is extremely encouraging for Wyre Forest. Worcestershire MPs were extremely concerned that the low levels of central Government grant combined with the original proposed cut in actual resources could have had implications for the safety of Worcestershire residents. These proposals will would mean that the safety of residents will not be compromised by a cut in essential resources.
Whilst these recommendations are not final, the outcome of the consultation process highlights that the campaigning Worcestershire MPs have conducted may have helped to save fire stations in Bewdley and the Worcestershire area."
