This afternoon, Mark Garnier visited the traders in Kidderminster's Comberton Hill to see how business was getting along and to listen to concerns about the proposed road changes. The shops along 'The Hill' rely on quick stop-off trade and the proposed road changes with regard to the relocation of traffic lights will remove some of the stop off parking bays.
Traders fear that this will affect their trade.
Mark Garnier said of the proposals: "The plans for the redevelopment of Kidderminster Station are excellent and I and most of Kidderminster welcome the improvements. But what is worrying is the proposed changes to the traffic lights that will remove a number of parking bays in front of the shops on Comberton Hill.
"I can only agree that these changes will have a material affect on the traders' opportunities and it will also cause problems with regard deliveries. It is incredibly important that as we improve the town, we make sure that everyone benefits from the advantages and is never badly affected."
Mark has pledged to take this up with the county council to put forward both the traders' point of view, and the local residents who will also lose opportunities to drop off.
