The ongoing campaign to save Stourport's Royal Mail delivery office took a new turn today. Sue Bennett, Practice Manager at the York House Medical Centre in Stourport, added her name to the local businesses and services campaigning with representatives of the Communication Workers Union to save this important resource.
Mark Garnier, together with Cllrs John Holden and Mike Salter visited York House to meet with Sue Bennett.
In her letter to local mail boss Roy Sylvester, Sue highlights a number of important points. In order to save delivery charges introduced for large recipients a number of years ago), the practice now has to go and collect their mail locally. Typically, this can be 100 items every day. Should the service be moved to Kidderminster, this will deprive the practice of a member of staff for up to an hour every day and delay important mail being delivered.
For a practice serving 13,000 patients, this is simply not on, and local Conservatives are resolved to redouble their efforts to save this local community resource for all Stourport.
Supporters of this campaign can add their support by joining the facebook group Save Stourport Royal Mail Delivery Office From Closure on Facebook and by signing up at the petition at the 10 Downing Street website.
