In an effort to improve bus services across Worcestershire, Worcestershire County Council have withdrawn a small number of Diamond Bus Limited's contracts to allow the bus company to concentrate on other routes.
The decision will provide Diamond Bus with the opportunity to concentrate resources and enhance their operational improvement programme. The routes that have been withdrawn are not in the Wyre Forest area, however it is hoped that the withdrawals will allow Diamond Bus to address other local bus services.
Commenting on the changes, Mark Garnier said: '' After raising these issues with WCC, on behalf of several Wyre Forest residents, it is welcome news that action is being taken to address customers' concerns over service quality. These changes mean that Diamond Bus' resources will be less stretched, allowing them to concentrate their efforts on a smaller number of services. I also held a meeting with the WCC and invited a number of residents to attend to discuss the existing service issues with Diamond Bus. Though the contracts which have been withdrawn are not in the Wyre Forest area, it is important to openly discuss any existing concerns, and to also make sure that any improvements made in one area are replicated throughout the region. The removal of these contracts will benefit the existing services being provided to Wyre Forest, as well as my constituents that use them. I look forward to seeing an improved service for Wyre Forest".
