Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest, welcomes the news that the number of apprentices in the area has risen by 115% since 2009. This rise puts the total number in Wyre Forest at 980. The West Midlands as a whole have seen a rise of 71% which brings the total number in the region to 54,290.
After hearing the figures, Mark said:
"This is excellent news. Apprenticeships offer a fantastic opportunity for people to get on-the-job training that can lead to a fulfilling career. Such an enormous increase is great news for young people in Wyre Forest.
"However, there are still many more local people looking for an opportunity like an apprenticeship or fulltime employment. This is why I have set up the Wyre Forest Jobs Fair, taking place in Kidderminster Town Hall on 29th March, which will be hosting a number of local businesses offering training and fulltime work.
"This jobs fair is part of my interest in supporting ALL types of businesses - big, small, medium, micro-to find employees as well as offering the much needed support for jobseekers and school leavers looking for work and/or training."
