The second phase of the Hoobrook Link Road scheme is underway after work on the canal bridge started yesterday, December 2nd. Europe’s biggest crane was used to lower beams into place on Wednesday morning, despite difficult weather conditions. The development will bridge the gap over the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal and River Stour, running through to the A442 Worcester Road.
The road is situated within the South Kidderminster Enterprise Park, which is one of Worcestershire’s four key employment ‘game changer’ sites. The ‘Game Changer’ sites were identified in the county to offer a solution for both inward investment and local business growth. The bridge aims to improve accessibility to the park, as well as to the surrounding areas.
Mark Garnier said, “The Link Road will significantly relieve traffic congestion and by regenerating the area we are improving the prospects of our local businesses. This construction project creates a dynamic and well connected business environment that is capable of attracting new, innovative investors and entrepreneurs. With the bridge now under-reconstruction I’m proud to say that we are now one step closer to making this a reality.’’
