The Joint Services Review (JSR) today announced that Alexandra, Kidderminster, and Worcestershire Royal hospitals will remain open.
The Worcestershire's Clinical Senate, which comprises of healthcare professionals from across the county, has backed the proposal.
Changes will be introduced to address the need for more experienced doctors and more specialist services in the areas of A&E, women's and children's services.
Mark Garnier commented: 'I have been committed to the healthcare services in Wyre Forest since well before my election in 2010, and I therefore welcome the JSR's decision to keep all three acute hospitals in our county open.
'Rearrangement of certain services in the hospitals will effect in greater patient safety, which has been my main objective. The Alexandra Hospital will continue to provide local emergency care, while the Worcestershire Royal Hospital will be enhanced to deal with the most urgent cases, and will provide a 24/7 service with an improved link to specialist departments.
'I believe this is great news not only for Wyre Forest, but for all people across our county. However, there still remains work to be done, and although this announcement looks positive for Kidderminster, I will continue to work for more elective services in the Kidderminster Hospital.
'I am also very grateful indeed to all those who have worked with the Kidderminster Hospital Alliance. It has been a great testimony for all involved that we have collectively put aside party politics to work together for the best interests of our community at large. I knew that Wyre Forest would not welcome any one party trying to make political capital out of a hospital review: I am sure that our community is relieved and grateful that we worked together on this.'
