Mark Garnier MP has contacted local retailers to express disappointment at high fuel prices.
Prices in Wyre Forest are once again higher than in surrounding areas in the West Midlands, despite the success of the campaign last year which saw the premium that residents pay fall.
Following Mark's campaign, which included a meeting with supermarket Tesco, he was grateful to see that retailers reacted positively and that the premium on fuel prices in Wyre Forest fell to around 1p. However, disappointingly, this has not been maintained and recent comparisons show that once again Wyre Forest residents are paying up to 5 pence more per litre than elsewhere in the West Midlands.
Mark Garnier said: "It is disgraceful that residents of Wyre Forest are again being penalised at the pumps, when clearly it is possible for retailers to reduce the premium that local residents pay. I have therefore once again contacted Sainsbury's, Tesco, Rontec, and ExxonMobil to highlight my disappointment in the inequity of charging Wyre Forest consumers extortionate prices, and to question why they were unable to maintain the lower premium once the pressure was taken off."
