Plans have been unveiled which propose the demolition of Crown House in Kidderminster and for the regeneration of the Bullring area.
The area will be totally transformed and the plans include opening up the river Stour to create a picturesque setting for a variety of events including fetes and markets. There will be many retail opportunities created and the whole area will benefit from landscaping and new street furniture. It is hoped that this regeneration will attract visitors to Kidderminster Town centre which is vital to the local economy.
Mark Garnier said: “I am delighted that the eyesore of Crown House will finally be demolished and make way for a fabulous transformation of the centre of Kidderminster. Kidderminster has suffered from a number of ill advised town centre planning decisions and this proposal starts the process of lifting the town’s basic structure. Many people visit Kidderminster and finding ways to make them stay longer is vital. I believe these proposals will make the town yet more welcoming.
“These proposals also come after we have seen ideas put forward for Stourport, with the canal basin redevelopment proposals following off from the historic basins restoration. The plans are also progressing for Bewdley’s town centre around the old medical centre and library. Add to that other proposals, such as the conference centre in the safari park and Wyre Forest as a whole is becoming an exciting place to live, work and enjoy.”
