Mark Garnier MP has welcomed the announcement that Wyre Forest will receive £252,220 of funding from the Primary PE and Sport Premium.
David Cameron has announced that he is committed to keeping the £150m a year Primary PE and Sport Premium until 2020. Wyre Forest primary schools will receive £252,220 in 2013/14 and an estimated £1,513,320 between 2014 and 2020.
This funding continues the Olympic legacy and ensures that children are encouraged to get involved in school sport. Local primary schools will be able to use the fund for a range of activities including hiring professional coaches and PE specialist teachers, purchasing new equipment and offering more after school and weekend activities.
Mark Garnier MP said "This funding is great news for primary schools in Wyre Forest. It means that they will be able to provide some fantastic facilities for local children and encourage them to be active and healthy.
Local schools will be able to purchase needed equipment and give pupils new opportunities by hiring professional coaches which will make sport in schools fun and engaging"
