Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier has welcomed the allocation of £137,500 in the second tranche of funding from the Business Support Scheme
The Government allocated the second tranche of funding last week from the £10 million Business Support Scheme to help businesses who have been directly or indirectly affected by the flooding.
Just under 30 businesses in Wyre Forest have been directly affected by flooding and have already been given 3 months businesses rate relief to help with recovery by Wyre Forest District Council (WFDC). These businesses will now be able to take advantage of the Business Support Scheme which has been allocated to WFDC by central government. WFDC have contacted businesses who have been affected by the floods to make them aware of the financial help that is available to them. In addition to this from the 1st April businesses can also apply for a grant of up to £5000 from the Repair and Renew Grant which is to help businesses where operational space has been flooded.
Mark Garnier MP has raised the issue of support for businesses who have been affected by flooding in the House of Commons. He asked Michael Fallon, the Minister of State for the Department of Business Innovation and Skills, what steps he was taking to support businesses affected by flooding. He also asked for assurances that businesses affected in Wyre Forest would be included in the second tranche of funding.
Mark said “I am pleased that WFDC has been allocated this funding from central Government. This is great news for businesses in Wyre Forest that have been affected by flooding. WFDC are working hard to ensure that businesses are given the support that they need and are aware of the financial help that is available to them. It is important that businesses get this essential funding so that they can recover quickly from the damage that flooding has caused.”
