Mark Garnier MP is delighted that Wyre Forest District Council will be reimbursed over £62,000 for flood costs incurred at the start of the year
Wyre Forest District Council (WFDC) have announced that they have claimed back a large proportion of the expense caused by flooding this year from the Bellwin Scheme.
The funding is used to compensate local authorities for the costs of emergency measures taken to safeguard life or property in exceptional circumstances such as flooding.
Mark Garnier MP said “I am delighted that WFDC has been granted just over £62,000 under the Bellwin Scheme. The flooding this year led to unexpected costs to WFDC. The frontline workforce at WFDC worked tirelessly locally during the flooding to protect local residents and their property. WFDC also helped Worcester City Council with their clean-up operation and provided assistance to the Environment Agency.
“This money recognises the hard work that WFDC put in during the floods and will ensure that they are not out of pocket for this essential work.”
