In the last five years, Mark Garnier has helped bring £11.85 million to secure superfast broadband for Worcestershire. This has brought coverage to 95% of homes in Wyre Forest, but for the coverage to be 100%, more work needs to be done.
Whilst this is fantastic coverage for the majority, it still leaves too many people on old systems. That is why Mark met with Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport in Chaddesley Corbett, to highlight several rural areas around Wyre Forest which currently are not listed to receive this vital connection. Sajid said it was very important to get superfast broadband into the rural parts of Wyre Forest as soon as possible. He promised to work with Mark to raise this with BT and force a positive outcome for those residents locally who deserve better.
Mark Garnier commented: "I have worked hard to ensure everyone in Wyre Forest has access to this vital internet connection. It is important that our rural economy has the same opportunities for growth as the urban areas. That is why Wyre Forest needs a strong local champion who has access to ministers. We also need a Government that has the power and will to deliver for communities across the UK, especially the rural ones. I hope to be able to push for full broadband rollout in Wyre Forest after next week."
