Recent statistics have shown that the number of apprenticeships within Worcestershire have increased in all districts. This year there has been a 9.75% increase in apprenticeships compared to the previous year. In total there have been 5,290 apprenticeships in Worcestershire. However it is Wyre Forest that is leading the way with a table-topping 1,020 new apprenticeships in 2015.
This marks an increase of 140 new apprenticeships compared to last year and is further evidence of the progress being made under the Conservatives after yesterday’s record levels of unemployment. The total number of apprenticeships in England this year has risen to 486,800, an increase of 12%.
Mark Garnier commented, “In a recent Jobs Fair I hosted on 1st October I emphasised the importance of delivering more training and skills opportunities to Wyre Forest and the increase in apprenticeship data is proof that we, as an area, are heading in the right direction. The fact that Wyre Forest has come top of the table for the most apprenticeships in Worcestershire is hugely encouraging and I hope that we will continue to lead the way in employment and apprenticeship levels in Worcestershire and indeed the West Midlands as a whole.”
