240 Jobs Lost in Kidderminster - Ceramaspeed moves manufacturing to Poland

240 jobs in Kidderminster have been lost as insulation manufacturer Ceramaspeed Ltd announces it is moving its manufacturing operations to Poland. Just 100 jobs will be left at the Kidderminster head office. The move comes as a result of economic pressures forcing the company to find more competitive manufacturing facilities as their competitors take advantage of cheap overseas labour.

2,500 Post Office to close - Labour marks Gordon Brown’s Coronation with further service cuts

On the day that Gordon Brown was crowned as Labour's new leader and the man who will succeed Tony Blair as this country's Prime Minster, Trade and Industry Secretary Alistair darling announced further service cuts by slashing 2,500 post offices. This means that for Wyre Forest, a further 3 post offices face closure. This comes after 10 have closed since 1999, leaving just 20 across the district.

Health Concern Abandon Democracy

At last night's annual full council meeting of Wyre Forest District Council, the Health Concern group (the party that likes to claim its independence) got up as one and left the council chamber mid meeting. This was orchestrated by Howard Martin and clearly demonstrated how the whip is alive and well in Health Concern. Alarmingly, it meant that Mitton was denied any representation last night after all their HC councillors walked out.

Wyre Forest Conservatives Appoint New Group Leader

At the annual meeting of the Wyre Forest District Council Conservative Group today, Group leader Stephen Clee stood down and Cllr John Campion was elected to fill the post of group leader. The change comes after Wyre Forest Conservatives yet again proved they are the most popular political party across Wyre Forest, taking 36% of votes cast on Thursday's district elections. Taking account of previous results in Chaddesley and Blakedown, where no other party contested the seat leaving the seat unopposed for Conservatives, Conservatives are the party of choice for 38% of Wyre Forest residents.

David Cameron Visits Wyre Forest - Conservative Leader Tours Proposed Recycling Plant

Conservative leader David Cameron today visited Wyre Forest and toured the proposed recycling plant at the disused Foulkes Forge on the Stourport Road Kidderminster. The site has been leased by Lawrence Skip Hire and, when finished, will be the biggest recycling plant in Europe, providing recycling facilities that will be able to handle the whole of Worcestershire's recycling needs. Furthermore, it will host a recycling laboratory as well as state of the art educational facilities.
