Mark Garnier MP brings £1.8 million to Kidderminster Railway Station

Mark Garnier MP has welcomed an additional £1.8 million of New Growth Deal funding for upgrades to Kidderminster Railway Station. Having already worked hard to ring fence £ 2.5 million in July, he has now secured an additional £ 1.8 million through fighting for Wyre Forest's needs, even by speaking personally to the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Mark Garnier MP has welcomed new figures showing that the Conservatives' Help to Buy scheme is helping families to achieve their dream of buying their own home. The scheme now makes it possible to get a mortgage for a house with only a 5% deposit.

Barely a week goes by without more good economic news. The IMF have now confirmed that Britain was the fastest growing economy of any major advanced nation in 2014, forecasting growth of 2.6%. We have already pulled ahead of France to make us the 5th biggest economy in the world. But we can certainly do more and both David Cameron and George Osborne have set us the target of being the biggest economy in Europe. That is the prize for the work we have done as a country, and the work we will still need to do.

Unemployment continues to fall in Wyre Forest

Figures released today by the Office for National Statistics show that the number of unemployed claimants in Wyre Forest in December 2014 was 926, which represents 2.0% of the economically active population.  

Sharp fall in over-50s unemployment in Wyre Forest

 Mark Garnier has welcomed the fall in the number of unemployed older people in Wyre Forest. Since the General Election in 2010, the number of people over the age of 50 claiming the main unemployment benefit is down 58.1%. This is particularly noticeable in comparison to the 132.5% rise in unemployment in that age group between April 2005 and April 2010.
